Fix display issues on Vista with Adobe Gamma loader

I have given up searching for the answer how to fix my display on my Samsung SyncMaster 931BW and had to take matters into my own hands. Nothing seemed to work. After loggin off or puting computer to sleep my display would get out of whack and gamma would not load. Screen would be way to bright and colors would be off as well. Sometimes my adobe gamma profile would load and sometimes it would not. Removing User Access Control (UAC) did not solve the problem either, third party software (Spyder2, EZcolor, and there are others) worked, but I refuse to load yet another piece of software on my computer.

So, after having gamma set up in my control panel and my profile saved it should load everytime my computer starts, right ? wrong. This is not the case in Vista. To get around this I force the gamma load everytime my computer starts. I create my own batch file and put it in startup folder. This is the same folder where gamma loader sits too.

So, to do this you need to open your notepad (or any other text editor you use) and put the following text in it (between ************ only):

***********************

choice /T 2 /C ync /D y
C:\"Program Files"\"Common Files"\Adobe\Calibration\"Adobe Gamma Loader.exe"

***********************

Now save the text file as screen.bat on your desktop. Next copy the screen.bat and paste it in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup directory. This can also be accessed by going to start, all programs, right click on startup and explore all users. Little thing I learned is that you can not modify files in this directory, you can modify your files on your desktop for example and copy them into that folder.

What does this batch file do? Choice will make it pause and wait for your input, don't press anything, simply wait (2 seconds) and it will continue. The reason why I gave it 2 seconds is in to allow vista to do it's own thing and execute my stuff after. You can try and lower the number to 1 if you wish. You can also place a shortcut on your desktop to the batch file and manually execute it (that's double click) in case something does not work.

Good luck.

Comment: Thnks for this, followed your instructions, however the .bat loads but then Vista unloads it seconds after. If I manually start the .bat it loads and stays there until I shutdown or reboot. MSCONFIG show's it's there to load at startup fine, but it just doesn't hold...
